Electro Sex: What Is It And How To Do It

Electro sex is a shocking form of sex play that can be very fun but must be performed safely.

Also known as erotic electrostimulation or e-stim, it involves the use of special devices to provide electric stimulation to the nipples and genitals. This type of play isn’t for everyone, but, if you’re curious to learn more, or maybe even try it out for yourself, read on.

The Basics Of Electro Sex

Electro sex is a type of sexual play that uses electrical current to stimulate your pleasure centers. It is often associated with BDSM, but doesn’t have to be. It can be done during both partner and solo play, depending on the toys you use.

There are special devices on the market that were created specifically for electronic stimulation. From nipple clamps and covers to wands, pads, and vibrators, there are many different options to choose from depending on your experience level and what sensations you want to experience.

Some devices are meant to go on the outside of your body, while others may be inserted. Start with something small and external before advancing to internal e-stim toys.

What Are The Risks?

With electro sex, there are a number of risks to familiarize yourself with before you begin. That doesn’t mean that you can’t do it safely — you just have to take the appropriate precautions (more on that in the next section).

First, electro sex should absolutely never be performed while pregnant. If you think you could be pregnant, stay away from e-stim until you can either confirm that you are not pregnant or after you’ve healed from giving birth.

Secondly, any time you come in contact with an electrical current or a product that can generate heat, there is the possibility of burns. While this is unlikely if you are using devices exactly as directed, everyone’s body, skin, and nerves are different.

It’s important to start slow and always use devices designed specifically for e-stim exactly as instructed. Creating your own homemade devices or using devices incorrectly can lead to a number of medical issues and potentially death.

With that being said, when the appropriate devices are used correctly, there is minimal risk of harm.

How To Stay Safe

The best way to stay safe while experimenting with electro sex is to read all directions on the device you are using. Never, ever alter the machine or build a home-made shock device.

That might sound like a no-brainer, but there are numerous recorded incidents when homemade devices and improper use caused serious and often deadly accidents to happen.

Remember to always begin on the lowest setting. Your genitals are extremely sensitive and these devices will feel different on them than they will if you test them on your arms. Once you’re comfortable with the sensation, increase the intensity slowly and gradually.

Always use an electro conductive lubricant on the skin to prevent burns and enhance sensations. Never use any other kind of lubricant during e-stim. If you use other types of lube — especially silicone lube — during sex play, do not use e-stim devices during that sex session. Wait until you are done using e-stim devices to use other types of lube.
